Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most underrated wildlife destinations and, for many visitors, an unexpected highlight of their safari. The park’s legendary elephant herds are the main draw; Tarangire has more elephants per square kilometre during the dry season than almost anywhere else on earth, with herds of 300+ animals gathering at the Tarangire River.
