Detailed Itinerary
Your safari guide collects you from Arusha for the scenic 2-hour drive to Lake Manyara. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, enormous flamingo flocks on the alkaline lake, and dense groundwater forest teeming with baboons and blue monkeys. An afternoon game drive reveals a remarkable diversity of birds and mammals. Overnight at lodge near the park entrance.
Drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands with stunning views across the crater. Enter the Serengeti by midday and begin afternoon game drives in the Seronera Valley. The central Serengeti is home year-round to resident lion prides, leopards in acacia trees and enormous hippo pools. Overnight in the Serengeti.
Two full days dedicated to tracking the Great Migration. Depending on the time of year, your guide will position you in the northern Serengeti (Mara River crossings, July–October), western corridor (May–July) or southern plains (January–March calving). Optional hot air balloon at dawn. Overnight in the Serengeti both nights.
Morning game drive in the Serengeti before driving south to Ngorongoro. Arrive at the crater rim for sunset views over this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight at a luxury lodge on the rim with panoramic crater views.
A full day in the Ngorongoro Crater — one of the most wildlife-dense places on earth. The 260 sq km crater floor is home to black rhinos, enormous lion prides, vast buffalo herds, elephants, hippos, flamingos and virtually the entire cast of Africa's most iconic species. Picnic lunch on the crater floor. Overnight on the rim.
A final morning game drive on the crater floor before ascending and making the scenic drive back to Arusha. Airport and hotel drop-off included. You'll arrive in Arusha in the afternoon, completing a truly unforgettable week in Tanzania.
